I understand how gastric bypass surgery is done. What I want to know is this: There is a large portion of the stomach left after the small portion with which the pouch is created is removed from the top of the stomach. The small pouch portion is connect to the bowel that had been connected to the prior to it's removal from the bottom of the "big" stomach. What happens to the rest of the stomach that has been "disconnected"? Thanks for any help.
